Amazon Affiliates: earn commissions with your Amazon links

Sep 27, 2026 2 min read

If you are in the Amazon Associates Programme, this is where you connect your site to it. The link on the screen goes to the programme page so you can sign up.

Setting it up

  1. Enter your affiliate ID (tag), the one Amazon gives you, usually ending in -20 or -21. Only letters, numbers, hyphens and underscores are allowed.
  2. Choose your Amazon store (Amazon.es, Amazon.com…).
  3. Leave Add my ID to Amazon links automatically and Show the affiliate notice set to “Yes” and click Update.

What your site does from then on

  • Your ID on every Amazon link. Any link to Amazon in your pages, articles, sections, products or menus goes out with your ID. If a link already carries an ID (for example, one copied from Amazon’s toolbar), it is left as it is.
  • Mandatory legal notice. Pages with affiliate links show, at the end of the content, the sentence Amazon requires: “As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.” (in the page’s language). Pages without links don’t show it.
  • Affiliate products. In a product, fill in Affiliate link with the product’s Amazon link or its ASIN. That product is no longer sold in your shop: instead of the cart it shows a View on Amazon button and hides your price.
  • “Amazon product” section. Create a section of that type with the link or ASIN, your title, photo and text, and place it anywhere: it shows as a card with the button to Amazon.

Amazon photos and prices

Amazon does not allow copying its product photos or typing in its prices by hand. Use your own photos and texts. If you want your site to show Amazon’s live price, photo and title, fill in the Creators API part with the credentials Amazon gives you in its Associates dashboard (Tools → Creators API). They are checked when you save. Amazon only grants API access to accounts with at least 10 qualifying sales in the last 30 days. Without it everything works the same, except Amazon’s price.
