Coupons: discount codes

Sep 27, 2026 2 min read

A coupon is a code your buyers type in the cart to get a discount. For example, WELCOME for 10 % off the first purchase.

Creating a coupon

  1. Click New and write a title to recognise it.
  2. Code: what the buyer will type. Capital letters do not matter.
  3. Discount type: Fixed amount (for example 5 € off) or Percentage (for example 10 %).
  4. Amount: the money or the percentage.
  5. Set Activated to “Yes” and save.

Limits

  • Maximum uses: how many paid orders can use it in total. Empty = no limit.
  • Each registered customer can use it only once.
  • Expires on: the last day it is valid. Empty = it does not expire.
  • Only for these customers: if you choose customers, only they can use it, and they must sign in. Empty = any buyer, including guests.

How it works in the store

  • The buyer types the code in the cart summary (“Have a coupon?”) and sees the discount and the new total right away.
  • The discount applies to the products, never to shipping. A fixed amount larger than the products brings them to 0, no lower.
  • One coupon per order.
  • If the coupon brings the order to 0 € (for example 100 % with no shipping costs), the buyer confirms the order without going through the payment gateway.
  • The discount shows in the order, the confirmation email and Orders. The Uses column of the list counts the paid orders made with each coupon.

Deactivating a coupon or changing its amount does not change the orders that already used it: the discount is stored in each order.
