Customer balances: your buyers’ wallet
Every registered customer has a wallet in your store: a balance they can use to pay their orders, fully or partly. The balance belongs to your store only: if the same buyer shops in other edeck.me stores, they do not see it there.
The screen has two lists:
- Customer balances: each one’s name, email and balance.
- Transactions: every movement, with the date, customer, type (manual adjustment, order payment…), amount and reason.
Adding or removing balance
- Click the customer.
- Write the amount to add, for example
10,00. To subtract, use a minus sign:-5,00. - Write the reason. It is required and the customer will see it in their account.
- Click Apply.
The balance never goes below zero. Movements cannot be edited or deleted: if you make a mistake, make another adjustment the other way.
You can also give back as balance the amount of a paid, cancelled order, from its record in Orders.
How the customer uses it
When signed in, the payment screen shows their balance and a Use my balance button. If the balance covers the whole order, they confirm it without going through the payment gateway; otherwise they pay the rest with your usual payment method. The balance is deducted when the order is paid.
In their account, under My balance, they see what they have left and all their movements.
Other ways to get balance
- Top-up: if your store has a payment gateway set up, customers can top up their balance from My balance, from 5 to 500 €. They pay through your gateway and the balance arrives once the charge is confirmed. Top-ups do not appear in Orders but here, under Transactions.
- Refund on cancellation: if a customer cancels a paid order you have not shipped yet, they can choose to get the amount back as balance. They get it immediately and the money stays in your store for their next purchase.
